Along with banks, in India, Non-Banking Finance is an important format of credit dispensing. The size of NBFIs globally is around USD 67 Trillion while it amounted to 375 Billion in India as in 2011 and continues to grow at a fast pace. NBFIs are rapidly gaining prominence as intermediaries in the retail finance space. More than 80% of equipment leasing and hire purchase activity in India is financed by NBFCs. The AUM of NBFCs in retail finance is expected to double over the period next few years. Future growth will be driven by new products which are flexible and tailor made to suit the customers need.
